TravelSmarts provides practical solutions to people wanting to travel smarter, more safely, comfortably and affordably through a selection of carefully selected, quality travel accessories and informative seminars. We are based on the outskirts of Vancouver in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
Over the past 20+ years, TravelSmarts owner Andrea Perchotte (pictured right) has voyaged to dozens of countries spanning six continents. Her unique insider perspective of the travel industry is a result of having been a flight attendant jetting worldwide and a cruise line crew member on 30+ cruises sailing off the shores of Europe, Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii as well as in the Caribbean. As an accommodation inspector, Andrea rated over 125 hotels, motels and bed & breakfasts. Because of her extensive travel background, Andrea has a keen understanding of what travel products best serve the needs of travellers.
She holds honours degrees in Japanese and Education, and leads informative, engaging workshops and presentations on travel tips and packing tips.
Her passion to educate others is also infused in her writing. Andrea is the author of the valuable resource TravelSmarts: Tips & Strategies for Traveling Smart, Safe and Affordably, which was featured here. Andrea has also penned articles which have appeared in a variety of publications including AARP, Business in Vancouver, BC Home and Transitions Abroad, among others. She provides tips as a travel blogger through her blog, TravelPerch, as well.
She studied at a Japanese high school and university as an exchange student, and taught ESL. While living in Guatemala, Andrea studied Spanish and volunteered with disadvantaged children.
